Developing an Identity for the All-New African Savanna


Just as my work at the Fort Worth Zoo began, so began the process for opening a whole new section of the park. This collection of animal habitats are state-of-the-art in one of the finest zoos and is currently ranked the #6 Best Exhibit in the Nation by USA Today. Our in-house team was tasked with developing the identity of the new space featuring animals of the African Savanna. The bold, contemporary typeface compliments the custom treatment that follows. The pair work in harmony to communicate the balance of new and natural. Drawing inspiration from the Maasai tribe and utilizing the natural elements of custom, handwritten type, the logo set the foundation for the coming standards that ensured the success of the artistic direction of the space.
